Alfred Adler
“Difficulties exist in order to be overcome”
Alfred Adler was born, on February 7, 1870 in Vienna, Austria. ... As a child Adler was considered a mediocre student and it was even suggested by his teacher to drop out of school, learn a trade, and become a cobbler. ... In 1901, Adler joined Freud weekly to discuss newer aspects of psychopathology. Over time Adler began disagreeing with Freuds original theories that mental difficulties were caused exclusively by a sexual trauma, and he opposed the generalizations when dreams were interpreted, in each instance, as sexual wish fulfillment. So in 1911, they parted ways and Adler began his own following called Individual Psychology.
