My Opinions on Oedipus Rex
Oedipus Rex is a story that one could simply hate or love. Oedipus Rex is a tragic story that deals with a motif of sight and blindness. ... Overall, I thought Oedipus Rex was a good play. ... We see that there is a tension between Oedipus and Creon at the beginning of the play and this made me think that there was something Oedipus was trying to hide. I thought that Oedipus might have had a secret about becoming heir that he could not let anyone find out about. At the beginning of the play we do not know much about Oedipus so this allows the reader to forum their own opinion about him, I found him to be very intriguing. This is one of the main reasons I liked Oedipus Rex, but also because Sophocles uses many types of dramatic devices which gives us clues and hints about the story. ... Oedipus Rex displayed both types. ... Appollo, the god of Truth, foretold what would happen, and both King Laius and Oedipus tried to alter this. ... Oedipus was told he would kill his father; so he left who he thought was his father but their fate remained the same.
