The Character Flaw Of Hypocrisy The historic Salem Witch Trials all began with a character flaw of hypocrisy, which is shown in most societies. The town of Salem was a Puritan society that plays a major role in their beliefs and their laws. The hippocratic flaws of Salem end up destroying the town and its people. The hypocrisy of this society is shown in its church, the people, and in the judicial system. The church of Salem and its religion are forever scared from the hypocrisy that invades the Puritan beliefs and its religion. John Proctor refused to go to church, and does not even get his youngest child baptized from his hate and lack of trust is Reverend Parris. Reverend Parris shows hypocrisy when he insists that the alter candles on the church podium be cast out of gold.
