Troy a Climatic or Episodic Film
I chose to discuss the recent movie Troy starring Brad Pitt (Achilles), Diana Kruger (Helen), Orlando Bloom (Paris), Eric Bana (Hector), and Brian Cox (Agamemnon). The organization of this movie portrays traits of both the episodic and climatic structure models. ... In the beginning of the movie we see Paris and Hector, both princes of Troy, at a festive gathering at the Greek kingdom Mycenae and making peace between Greece and Troy. ... We see the main story line, which is the battle between Greece and Troy. ... Both of these characteristics of structure, the plot beginning relatively early in the story and the plot containing several narrative threads such as multiple or parallel plots, make me believe that this movies organizational structure is Episodic. However the movie Troy covers a span of no more then roughly 20 days (12 of which are passed by a heading saying “12 days later”).
