Why Abortion is morally wrong
Melissa
Eng 111
Abortion, and more specifically whether a woman has the right to make such a decision, is probably the most decisive issue in modern time. ... However, when we exercise any of our liberties, we must be careful to consider whether the exercising of our liberties infringes upon anothers liberties, and I believe that is the case with abortion. Because of this conflict, I believe abortion is only justified in the case of incest, rape, or when the mothers life is in danger, and even in these circumstances, the decision should only be made after much thought and prayer. ... But, for those who say the baby isnt viable, have you ever seen a sonogram of an abortion? ...

At this point, supporters of abortion dispute whether the fetus is in fact alive, and many scientists and religious organizations have given their opinion on when in fact the fetus becomes a human. ... First of all, supporters and opposes to abortion alike would agree that the intentional ending of innocent human life is murder, and as such it is wrong. ... On the other hand, those who oppose abortion argue that the unborn embryo is a human being. ... Because of this, I have a difficult time understanding why supporters of abortion (who are often very environmentally Conscious) will lament the potential environmental harm that may arise from an industrial project, but do not offer the same degree of protection for the inevitable future of the fetus. ... Yet, if one does not know, shouldnt one pursue that answer before making the decision to support abortion? ... On the other hand would laws that outlawed abortion restrict a womans freedom? Alternatives to abortion include chastity, adoption, motherhood (even contraception- not necessarily a right and good option, yet a less evil option than abortion nonetheless.) Therefore except in the case of rape, women have reproductive freedom even if abortion is unavailable.
