When a boy was born in Flushing, NY to an Italian family on November 17, 1942 it probably would have been difficult to foresee exactly where Martin Scorsese was going to go with his life. Well many years later, teamed with a passion for both gangs of the Wild West and the current hoodlums of the booming industrial cities, Scorsese managed to create incredible pieces of cinematic art. Whether we’re in the slot lobby of the Tangiers Hotel and Casino, driving down Times Square plotting against slobs and whores, dealing 4 pounds of coke a week, or stalking a picture perfect suburban family, we always are made aware of Scorsese’s pervasive interest in the dark side of human nature. As a director, Martin Scorsese has produced some of the most deeply intriguing, thought provoking, disturbing, and memorable films of all time.
