Your mom

Home is Where the Heart is The word home is a word that evokes very strong feelings from almost all people. It also brings out different feelings in everyone. Almost nobody views the home place the same. To some it is a place of refuge or escape. For others it can even be a scary place. Someone’s view of the home can be a glimpse into their personality and their views on life. My opinion of the home is that it is a place of comfort and security. I have always felt this way ever since I was growing up. I still remember being scared at night and my father would bring out a flashlight and take me all around the house, from the attic to the basement, to assure me that home was always a safe place. To me the home is not just the building that the actual dwelling consists of or the surrounding area, but the other people involved in the home. I think that family is the most important part of the home place. Without loved ones and the memories they create surrounding the home I feel that it would just be another building that had no emotional value. Sure, the familiar surroundings give you some feeling of comfort and security, but they don’t give me the same warm feeling or welcome as a loved one. Going home for the weekend just wouldn’t be as special if my mom and dad weren’t waiting to greet me at the door. Another important part of the home place to me is the neighborhood where I live and the community of people that I am familiar with. Since I grew up in a very small town of only about seven thousand people I knew almost everyone. We also had only one school so I knew everyone my age and it was easy to meet people because everybody had mutual friends. I guess I kind of took this for granted until I came to Lexington. It was really hard getting used to all the new people at first. Over these first few weeks I have made several friends and acquaintances but they can never replace the people that I spent my whole life growing up with. They are very much a part of my home. I guess for you to understand my views of my home place I should describe it for you. Being an only child, I live in a relatively small house. It only has 3 bedrooms and my parents are the only other people that I live with. It’s in a small little subdivision close to the main street of Princeton, the town I live in.
