There are many ways to express morals and lessons in a story. But one way that stands

Hawthorne, is an example of an allegory. Its characters and symbols in the story are what make
this story an allegory. ... Young Goodman Brown’s
wife is named Faith and she represents his faith in God. ... ” This stranger resembles Young
Goodman Brown in a way that “they might have been taken for father and son.” This man
represents the devil that disguises as a father figure of Young Goodman Brown. He even says he
knows Young Goodman Brown’s father and that he walked the same path into the forest with
him.
