Montana 1948 is a novel about the struggle between honesty and corruption. Discuss. Montana 1948 is not as straight forward as a struggle between honesty and corruption. Family, racism, justice and power all play the part in the struggle. As most of the novel is the conflict is between Wes, Frank and Julian. Wes, therefore has to battle against more than just corruption and it is much more serious and significant than a struggle between honesty and corruption. When Wes first hears about the accusations made about Frank he is very reluctant to take on the role of justice and honesty.
