U. S. History May 13th,2003 8th Period Essay:1920's The 1920s was a period of progress before the Great Depression. It was a time when Prohibition was enacted. It was when women really began to show their independence. Charles Lindberg made a solo flight across the Atlantic ocean. Babe Ruth began his legacy and the Yankess became the baseball team of the decade. Our economy took off and we couldn't stop it. Prohibition was a fight between Rural and Urban groups. The rural ares were made up of immigrants who were looked down upon for their excessive drinking by the urban population. Prohibition banned the sale of all alcohol. Prohibition was brought up partially by the temperance movement.
