Jane Austen was brought into the world on December 16, 1775 to a “ Well-connected, well mannered and traditionally Tory family…The Austens were qualified in every respect to be welcomed into the inner circle of society (Cecil, 25).” She grew up in Steventon, a country town in Hampshire England with her parents George and Cassandra Austen and their eight children; James, Edward, Henry, Cassandra, Francis, Jane, Charles, And George. Jane Austen’s literary work through the years mirrors the romantic period in which she lived in. This mirror image is constructed through Austen’s use of nature, the glorification of the individual and the romantic heroine, all common motifs during the Romantic Period.
