“But remember that the Captain belongs to the most dangerous enemy to truth and freedom, the solid unmoving cattle of the majority.” Faber says this to Montag as Montag is thinking about reading books. Faber doesn’t want to make Montag’s decision about whether or not to read books so he tells him that the Captain is the biggest influence truth and freedom, of all the cattle that like to graze and search through new things he is the solid unmoving and unchanging, in this case, cattle of them all. As the book continues this quote shows the start for Montag to start making his own decisions and becoming more open.
