They enabled the Jamaican dance and dancers to be accepted and acclaimed, both at home and abroad.
When one speaks of Jamaican dance and its emergence to center stage, one thinks naturally of the National Dance Theatre Company (NDTC) under its artistic director, Professor Rex Nettleford and its founding members who helped to form the group in 1962. The original members came from the Ivy Baxter, Fay Simpson, and the Eddie Thomas Dance Groups as well as the Soohihs Ballet School.
