HISTORY: • WHEN DID THIS MEDIA ORGANISATION BEGIN? PBS began in August 1978 when it was successful in its application for a broadcasting license and soon began a series of short broadcasts from temporary studios. • HOW WAS IT CREATED, AND BY WHOM? • WHERE DID IT ORIGINATE? PBS originated from 5UV in Adelaide on a restricted AM license which stopped it from playing music. STRUCTURE: • HOW DOES THIS MEDIA ORGANISATION EXIST IN ITS PRESENT FORM? • WHO IS IN CHARGE? A few paid staff but mostly relying on volunteer work. PBS's license is held by the Progressive Broadcasting Service Co-operative Limited - a non-profit group of interested persons drawn from the community who hold shares and have the right to vote and nominate positions on the board.
