Systemic Discrimination The topic I chose is the level of protection that the human rights legislation provides against systemic discrimination. The fact is that there is no protection for victims of this form of discrimination. Although the court system does acknowledge the existence of it, the government has removed any form of protection within the bill. The Charter of Rights and Freedoms clearly states under section 15 subsection 1 that: “ Every individual is equal before and under the law and has the right to the protection and equal benefit of the law without discrimination and, in particular , without discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour , religion, sex, age or physical disability.” Even with this in place the government does not provide relief from systemic discrimination.
