Chapter 17 This chapter is separated in two, the joyful side and the tragic side. In a mining camp. in northern Ontario, the red haired Alexander MacDonnald is decapitated when the lift worker becomes confused and sends a ore bucket hurtling down the shaft in which Alexander was cleaning. The body is to be brought back along with the narrators brothers and other family which are at the camp and the narrator is to drive a whole 100 miles to pick up the body and relatives. All this is discovered after the narrator graduates from dental school.
