Between 50,000 to 14,000 years ago during the ice age, groups of daring people migrated across the Bering Strait. Searching for a warmer climate, the first Native Americans spread across North America. These first Americans settled in the West, the Southwest, the Pacific Coast, Great Plains and the eastern woodlands. They found different climates and geographical features to produce enough food, and shelters. In the Native Americans in the southwest and western part of North America, gathered nuts, herbs, and fruits; they also hunted buffalo, some small game and maybe even bear in the northern parts; they farmed corn, beans.
