the same. ... There are many reasons why we have a
drinking age, one very important one being that teenagers are not mature enough to handle
alcohol. ... Underage drinking causes many problems such as vehicle accidents,
crime, suicide, increased sexual activity, and a higher will of drug use. The more we ignore the
fact that underage drinking is a problem, then the more dangerous it is going to get. ... We are obviously never going to completely abolish underage drinking but we must
get the statistics down. ...
There are many ways to reduce teenage drinking. One way being that lawmakers need to
adopt standards , starting with the alcohol industry not marketing to underage consumers. ... “A study of twelve year-olds found that children who were more aware of beer advertising
held more favorable views on drinking and expressed an intention to drink more often as adults
than did children who were less knowledgeable about the ads”(Grube 105-121). ... Maybe a group of auditors is needed to help monitor alcohol advertising to
underage drinkers. ...
