The relationship that exists between a boss and subordinate is always a two way stream. There is a need for constant interaction between the two parties to ensure pursuit of common organizational goals. There are collections of factors to consider in evaluating Sonya’s method of managing her relationship with Molly. Sonya, inhibited by her introverted personality prefers to work by herself, and is reluctant to seek guidance. She has blocked off channel of communications between her and her superior, and thus prevented any constructive dialogue happening in the first place. As a result, she has produced work that excels on its own, but fails to appreciate the organizational goal as a whole. However, Sonya has performed well in certain areas, and she could leverage her success as a foundation to improve and establish a working relationship with Molly. Sonya has strong work ethic and a flexible attitude. She willingly and enthusiastically accepted the job opportunity offered in Baltimore. Furthermore, in the event of a conflict, she understands her responsibility and would be a willing participant in solutions proposed. Her work ethic and motivations have been recognized by Molly, and thus earned her credibility. Although, Sonya has the technical expertise to produce her work individually she failed to realize the teamwork needed to successfully complete the project. The nature of the consulting industry is such that the organizational structure is geared towards collaboration and a team-based environment.
