As a young child, I believed everyone was nice, kind, and considerate to others just like all the people I’ve met before. Never would I have thought that there were some who were the total opposite. It all started in elementary school. Racism has been an issue in past years, but little did I know it would happen during the 90’s. During this time I experienced something I would remember forever. Almost everyday of school the same events reoccurred. It started off with the first day of school. The night before, my mind and body was so anxious for the first day of fourth grade that I couldn’t sleep for anything. My family and I had just moved into this new neighborhood recently. All that was on my mind was meeting my new teacher, being in a new school, and having new friends. After the second day in my new house, I received a new friend. Ashley was a nice, pretty, little girl who stayed across the street. By the time school started, we were already the best of friends. As I woke up on the morning of the first day of school, I could smell the crisp bacon and cheese eggs aroma in the air; my mom had made my favorite breakfast.
