Paul Cézanne was said to be one of the most important painters of his century. That title didn’t come easy. In Aix-en-Provence, France on January 19, 1839, Paul Cézanne was born. His father, Louis-Auguste Cézanne was the most successful banker in his hometown. His mother, Anne-Elisabeth-Honorine Aubert, gave birth to three children, Paul and two younger girls. Paul Cézanne always had a childhood friend, Emile Zola. It is believed that those two boys were best friends during school and stayed close throughout their lives. It was Emile Zola who finally convinced Cézanne to join him in Paris to attempt an art career.
