Students celebrate cultural diversity Musselman High School's Junior Civitan club held its first Hispanic food fair to celebrate National Hispanic Month. By DIANA BELL Journal Staff Writer INWOOD - Where would you expect to find fried bananas, pumpkin flan and Spanish rice in the Panhandle? In southern Berkeley County, of course. The flan, rice and bananas were just a sampling of foods prepared by participants in Musselman High School's first Hispanic food fair. In an effort to celebrate National Hispanic Month and educate people about Hispanic countries, the school's Junior Civitan club filled the cafeteria with music, exotic food and colorful posters. "We're tricking kids into learning," club adviser Kathleen Holsinger joked. Holsinger said learning about those countries is important because "West Virginia is a destination spot for people from these countries, and we know very little about them." Students made posters that included information about a specific country.
