There are two main types of communication them being verbal and non-verbal.
Fisher (1992) describes non-verbal communication as symbols with meaning interpretation, he says that there are five functions of non-verbal communication, them being, accenting, complimenting, substituting, contradicting and regulating. ... Fisher (1992) describes ‘contradicting’ as sending a non-verbal that means different to a verbal symbol, he lastly describes ‘regulating’ as the non-verbal symbol that is used to regulate or even terminate the verbal communication process.
Deux and Wrightsman (1984) describe communication as an interaction between two or more people, who send messages through verbal and non-verbal communication, and also receive messages through verbal and non-verbal communication, and by doing this they understand themselves and each other. Brooks and Heath (1985) also describe communication in the same way
