On April 4, 2002 I was waiting to turn left into a mall plaza for lunch, a turn that I have made no less than 100 times before. The lady in the automobile in front of me choose not to turn left but rather to ignore the clearly posted no u-turn sign. But before she was able to complete her u-turn she stopped suddenly. Because of her sudden stop I was obstructed from completing my left turn and subsequently stranded in the line of on-coming traffic. I turned to my left to see what prevented her from completing the turn and it was at that time that I witnessed an officer standing in the road, actually in the left hand turning lane with multiple police cars behind him, seemingly directing traffic. Because of the officer’s gesturing coupled with the fact that I was going to possibly be hit by oncoming traffic I chose to follow his directions and follow the car in front of me.
