Since 1973, Americans have had a very difficult time forming a consensus regarding abortions. ... Some even believe that abortions should be banned. Countless people, including myself, believe that there should be no restrictions pertaining to abortions preformed in the first and second trimesters. ... Currently, President Bush is deliberating with his staff on ways to work around the Constitution and make abortions fully illegal. One step towards this ban is the prohibition on partial birth abortions currently passed in over 30 states. "Partial-birth" abortions include terminations in the second trimester. Although I don’t agree with ones choice of having a partial birth abortion, women should still have the right to choose for themselves and their own body, so long as the baby is not so far along in the development process. ... If abortions were to be banned, statistics show that the population would be overwhelmingly larger and the United States would suffer because of this change.
