WHAT IS THE CARAJAS PROJECT: The Carajas project is a complex aimed percifically at bringing Brazil out of debt and into the 21st century. The reason for the Carajas project is because of the mass amount of Iron Ore located 600 kilometers South West of Belem. 18 billion tonnes of Minerals lie under bed rock within the area. The project comes at a price it is a sixty two million dollar complex of mines, dams, towns, roads and railways. WHAT ARE THE AFFECTS ON THE ENVIRONMENT: The Carajas project is becoming a major concern to the environment thus because of mass deforestation and the concerns of animals living within this area.
