... Well whenever I have one of these days I have found it helpful to turn to yoga. I have found that yoga is a helpful way to relieve stress while improving your physical condition. Yoga is one of the six orthodox systems of Indian philosophy. ... Iyengar yoga emphasizes the development of strength, stamina, flexibility and balance, as well as concentration (Dharana) and meditation (Dhyana). Today I will share with you some important information about yoga along with demonstrating some of the basic positions.
This past semester I took a three credit yoga class at UWM where I learned how to execute the various poses correctly and their names. I had to write two major papers on yoga and its effects on your body and mind as well as interview yoga instructors and yoga students about their experiences with yoga. First I will talk to you about the origins of yoga and the ultimate aim of the practice of yoga itself. Then I will talk about some of the standing and sitting poses and the meditation that is involved in yoga.
(Lets begin with the origins of yoga.)
