Paradox Essay

Paradox Essay A paradox is a statement that seems to contradict itself but in fact shows a truth. Steinbeck’s article “America and Americans” uses many paradoxes to show the truth in the American life style. The statement, “We are able to believe that our government is weak, stupid, overbearing, dishonest, and inefficient, and at the same time we are convinced that it is the best government in the world and try to impose it on everyone else,” shows a very good example of this. I believe that this is one of our greater problems in this country we try to call home and that if we really want our government to be as strong as we try to convince everyone else it is, we need to change the way we think.
