The mandaree School must meet the adequate yearly progress portion of the newly passed no child left behind legislation. A problematic porition of this Act for the mandaree School is that 93% attendance is mandated. However according toAnna Rubia,School Superintendent for the Mandaree School, they are not meeting the attendance requirement and in fact attendance is only at 86%. ... If there is non compliance funding may be withheld from the School. The School Board and Superintendent have adopted tough policies to combat this very serious abseentism problem such as the no tolerace for missing more than five days.If a Student is absent more than five days they must reapply for admission to School Also the School attempts to locate absent stundents and get them to School.
