Crucible Essay “ A panic arises if a group of that kind (military or religious) becomes disintegrated. Its characteristics are that none of the orders given by superiors are any longer listened to, and that each individual is solicitous on his own account, and without any consideration for the rest.” This statement is applicable and valid on events occurring in Act I of the play “The Crucible” and there are many examples in the play to prove the quoted statement. A panic arises across the town, as gossip and rumor spread about the events that occurred that morning in Salem. As the rumors became out of hand, so did the people.
