A variety of literary techniques are used in a play to make the play interesting and easy to understand for the audience. ... In the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare, a number of these literary techniques are used throughout the play to help the spectators understand the change in the feelings of different characters. Macbeth’s thoughts, which vary considerably from the beginning of the play towards the end, are revealed using soliloquies and asides. Through a series of well-structured soliloquies and asides the audience is shown Macbeth’s inner torment, his determination and finally, his acceptance of his fate.
The inner torment and mental suffering Macbeth experiences through out the play is shown using soliloquies and asides. Macbeth first expresses his inner torment when he is not sure if he should believe the prophecies of the witches. ... Macbeth sees himself in a dilemma because he is confused on whether he should act based on the predictions of the witches. Once again, Macbeth experiences mental suffering when he expresses his conflicting feelings about murdering Duncan.
