WHAT IS ART?
The question is, describe three things other than the creation of beauty that art accomplishes. In reviewing the chapter, I realized that art does at least four other things.
First, art glorifies. ...
Second, art educates. ... Authors of textbooks and magazine article writers include art in the form of graphs, charts, and other illustrations to clarify points and provide information in a format other than the written word.
When a classroom teacher goes to the board and sketches something to further explain a point she’s making in her lecture, she’s creating art. When a mechanical engineer draws an exploded drawing to demonstrate how the parts of a design fit together, he’s created art. Art is in an architect’s blueprints, a color chart that teaches us how myriad colors flow outward from the combination of three primaries.
