Childhood Asthma

     Childhood asthma is a common condition which occurs in twenty percent of children (Buchanan and Cooper, 9) in North America at some point during childhood. Asthma is twice as common in boys as in girls and is more severe in boys than in girls. About eighty percent (Buchanan and cooper, 9) of the children that develop asthma have developed it by the age of five. The condition asthma occurs when the airways are restricted and air can not fully pass through them. ... In children that have asthma the airways are hyper-reactive instead of reactive like in children that have normal breathing. When the bronchi is irritated three things occur to cause an asthma attack. ...
