Night is a true story based on the account of Eliezer Wiesel. Elie and his father were mostly concerned about staying together because they were separated from the rest of the family when they arrived at Birkenau. They went through selection, showered, and put on prisoner’s clothing. Elie’s father was became colic. He asked a guard where the restrooms were and was hit in the face so hard that he fell to the ground. Elie and his father were then moved to Auschwitz. Black coffee was served at breakfast and soup was given for lunch and dinner. Here, Elie had a number engraved in his arm: A-7713. This number became his name.
