... The image of a vampire has been built and rebuilt overtime through amongst many things, films and literature. Bram Stoker’s Dracula and James Hayman’s film Buffy the Vampire Slayer have unrelated story lines, however the vampires in Stoker’s (1897) novel shares numerous similarities to the vampires of the more modern (1992) film Buffy the Vampire Slayer. ... Where the vampires in Buffy the Vampire Slayer are different from those in Stoker’s Dracula is in the result of mortals having their blood sucked by a vampire. ... We realize Dracula is immortal when he is discussing with Jonathon the history of Transylvania. ... The vampires in Dracula, including the count, are revived and strengthened by drinking blood. And there is one way to kill the vampires in Dracula, to puncture their heart. ... In the end Harker, Mina, Van Helsing and Quincy find the boxes, and eventually Dracula is stabbed to death with knives by Harker and Quincy.
In Buffy the Vampire Slayer, we realize the vampires are immortal when one is flung off the roof of a car and hits a tree at a high speed. Any mortal would have died but the vampire merely loses his arm, feels no pain, and is completely fine. Another point where the immortality of the vampires in the movie is seen is when the leader of all the vampires gets fire blown into his face by Buffy and he is left with no burns or scars. Like to Dracula, the only way to kill vampires in Buffy the Vampire Slayer is to drive a stake through their heart.
One characteristic of the stereotypical vampire is their lust for beautiful women.
