My recontextualised version of “Oedipus Rex” revolves around the glitz and glimmer of Vegas, and the few people the house doesn’t win too. Oedipus’s parents are professional gamblers. Oedipus’s father Andréa’s Laos leads a casino team that takes Vegas for millions. ... When Lauren (Oedipus’s mother) is found pregnant with her boyfriend Andreas’s son. ... Oedipus is adopted out to a well-to-do family in Boston. ... By coincidence Oedipus turns his brilliance to the casinos, and he becomes a professional gambler like his parents. One night in the MGM Grand in Vegas he meets his father (they are both unaware of there similar DNA strands), and in a long suspense filled poker match Oedipus in pretending he was bluffing finally beats his father into bankruptcy and exile. With Andréas out of the picture Oedipus takes over his father’s old casino team. ... As time goes by Oedipus pieces it together, by talking to one of the hosts Jerry (Jerrisus). ... Oedipus banishes him self from Vegas, and spends his life moving from street corner, to street corner, from one bottle of rum to another. The great Oedipus is now nothing more than gutter trash.
