I cannot be mindful if the Buddha has yet to explain what mindfulness is! ... If I am to have this conversation with you, there can be no mention of the goals of mindfulness; for there is no way that you can grasp mindfulness approaching from your framework. ... Both paying attention and taking care are important aspects of mindfulness, and yet, neither fully embodies the idea. ... Of course, even I have not attained the state of perfect mindfulness. Breathing is a beautiful and classic way to attain mindfulness (Nhat Hanh 15). ... ” (Bhikku 4) Concentration on thought is mindfulness. Mindfulness is not forcing the mind into nothingness, but realization of the existence of a mind. ... I have overheard other monks discuss mindfulness and it seems that it is a concept that stretches beyond the hour I allocate to meditation. ... That realization is mindfulness (Nhat Hanh ? ... Mindfulness is utter absorption in acceptance of the present.
Sa: But what is the benefit to mindfulness? ... I also believe that in order to attain perfect mindfulness, there are truths that must be realized that are beneficial.
