ANALYTICAL PAPER #1 My paper is from the short story a Raisin in the Sun. In this paper I will target the scene when Walter and Beneatha is fusing about what mama should do with the money. This scene is perfect to show people that money is the root of all evil. However, both Beneatha and Walter wanted the money for themselves, they both had good intentions for the money. They both were going to use the money for what they wanted in life but at the same time they were trying to do a good deed for the family. All they ever wanted in life was to move away from the ghetto. Walter had plans on investing the money into a liquor store if he received the money. Although it was a gamble he did not see anything that could have stopped his dream from being successful. Walter shows that he really cares about the family throughout the entire play. He shows his feelings about how he thinks his sister should marry a man with some money so that she can better her life. Although Walter shows more concern than anyone else about seeing the family getting away from the ghetto and living a better life, I think he was more selfish than Beneatha.
