McCarthyism and The Red Scare
This paper will discuss not only a history of McCarthyism and how it came to be, but what it did to Americans of all types. One man known as Senator Joseph McCarthy was probably the main reason for the spread and continue scare of communism in the 1940’s through 1950’s. ... From that moment Senator McCarthy became a tireless crusader against Communism in the early 1950s, a period that has been commonly referred to as the "Red Scare. ... McCarthy started this “Red Hunt” and like a brush fire it stormed the country from ordinary common citizens all the way through the government.
The Red Scare was probably the last true modern day witch hunt we have seen, and probably will ever see again. ... He was able to use a certain time and a certain common fear among Americans to abuse and ultimately make up what we know as the “Red Scare. ... These action by the President added fuel to the fire on McCarthyism. ...
There was also many other events that made McCarthyism popular among Americans. ... McCarthy wanted them to see “Red,” what they really saw was an overpowering monster, who abused all his power to climb up the political ladder. ... He used the scare of communism among Americans to promote himself and his popularity in politics.
