While visiting at Koch Elementary I observed three fourth grade classrooms and one sixth grade classroom. Two of the teachers’ classroom management styles where similar, but the other two teachers displayed very little classroom management. One teacher had excellent classroom management, while the other teacher had the exact opposite. Ms Davis’ classroom performed well, but she could have had more procedures and routines in place to help the classroom run more effectively. She focused on discipline more than teaching, which took time away from the task for the students. Ms Davis’ classroom management changed depending on the class she was teaching. With her own students the procedures and routines were followed and the class had fewer distractions, but the other classes did the opposite.
