“LIVING TOGETHER BEFORE MARRIAGE SHOULD BE PROHIBITED ACCORDING TO CUSTOM”
South Korea is facing a change in traditional family values, and every day more and more people decide to live together as a couple without getting married. ... Many, but in any case, the consequences make Jenny Gu, a 24 year-old Korean woman, think that living together should be prohibited. ... However, the opinion of unmarried couples living together tells a different story; most of them insist that living together is good to assure a better marital life, while others just believe that marriage is not really necessary or important.
The reasons for living together outside marriage vary from one couple to another. Thoughts of a better conjugal life after being together, knowing they can break up at any moment, giving less significance to marriage, or believing there is less responsibility living like this than actually being married seems to convince them that cohabitation is a really good choice to make.
