We had one, Nikki, a collie, whom I had loved so much that I was convinced she was like a sister to me (even though I already had one of those.) So ever since we had to get rid of the dogs, I’ve kind of wanted another pet. Now I know this makes very little sense, especially since I am not really an animal person. So I had been bugging my dad about it half-heartedly and also with half-seriousness. I never really expected to get a pet, ever. Then came graduation. The whole ceremony was really nice, and the reception had much too much time put into it. Then I noticed it—there were goldfish bowls attached to balloons in the center of every table!
