Despite this, I do not agree with many of the ideas that Wollstonecraft possessed and freely expresses in her book “A Vindication of the Rights of Women.” She writes, “I lament that women are systematically degraded by receiving the trivial attentions, which men think it manly to pay to the sex, when, in fact, they are insultingly supporting their own superiority.” She goes on to say that she resents the fact that men hold doors open for women because they can do it themselves. ... It is simply ridiculous to consider that this is a way that men are purposely degrading women to flaunt their physical superiority.
