Balancing moments and goals in life
In the novel “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho, we find Santiago in search of treasures from his dreams. ... Throughout his journey, Santiago realizes the importance of balance in living in the moment and living with goals through the crystal merchant, Englishman, and the alchemist. ... He does not know what to do next and how he will live his life. For years, he lives his life with the same routine every day believing that the thought of Mecca will keep him alive. ... The idea of listening to the heart means to understand dreams and goals. ... Listening to it is important to comprehend the purpose of reaching his goals and making dreams a reality. ... The Englishman focuses so much on becoming an alchemist that he forgot about living life to the fullest. ... Life is about the journey, not the destination, because the process of living life determines the result of the future. ...
The balance of living life in the moment and living with goals is achieved through the understanding of both. Coelho wants us to understand that there are a lot of important things out there that we should not miss; there are the little things in life that make a big impact to us. ... The balance that is present determines whether we accomplish our goals or end up only dreaming about them. Throughout our own journey of accomplishing goals, we are tested through experiences and we have to find out ourselves if we are willing to go on or give up.
