Part Two: In today’s competitive business world it is imperative to understand the nature of your business and before trying to implement technology to salve problems and make improvements. Without a thorough knowledge of the business you compete in, a business cannot maximize efficiency or gain strategic advantage over competitors. In addition technology is not something you can implement into your business and expect immediate results. Many companies don’t realize that technology must be built into the core of a business in order to be successful. One example of a company that recognized a need to understand their business is Kompass, an Irish based company who provides a directory of Irish businesses to link buyers and sellers. Kompass understood the strength of the internet and the opportunities it would provide in expanding their business to a global market and provide their customers with better options.
