There are many different aesthetic principles that should be considered when preparing a well-composed photograph. This report will explore two of the more essential principles used in professional photography; framing and composition. It will also discuss the different types of shot that are used to conjure ambience and impression. Framing is the key to creating a quality photograph and encompasses three fundamental parts, firstly the angle from which the subject is shot whether it be down low for a portrait or up high for a landscape. Secondly deciding the distance of the camera from the subject, i.e. a close-up to create an air of intensity. Finally and most importantly is looking at what is visible in the frame, choosing the look and feel of the shot.
