Chapter 11 26. And Terah lived seventy years, and he begot Avram, Nahor, and Haran. 27. And these are the generations of Terah. Terah begot Avram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begot Lot. 28. And Haran died before Terah his father, in the land of his birthplace, in Ur-Kasdim. 29. And Avram and Nahor took for themselves wives; the name of the wife of Avram was Saray, and the name of the wife of Nahor was Milka the daughter of Haran, the father of Milka and the father of Iska. 30. And Saray was barren, she had no child. 31. And Terah took Avram his son, and Lot the son of Haran, the son of his son, and Saray his daughter-in-law, the wife of Avram his son; and they went-out with him from Ur-Kasdim to go to the land of Kena’an, and they came until Harran, and they sat there. 32. And the days of Terah were five years and two-hundred years; and Terah died in Harran. Chapter 12 1. And YHWH said to Avram: “Go forth from your land, and from your birthplace, and from the house of your father, to the land that I will show you. 2. And I will make you into a great nation, And I will bless you, And I shall make-great your name, And be a blessing. 3. And I will bless those who bless you, And he who curses you I will damn; And will be blessed through you, All the families of the earth.” 4. And Avram went as YHWH had spoken to him, and Lot went with him; and Avram was the son of five years and seventy years in his going-out from Harran. 5. And Avram took Saray his wife, and Lot the son of his brother, and all their possessions which they had possessed, and the people that they had made in Harran; and they went-out to go to the land of Kena’an, and they came to the land of Kena’an. 6. And Avram passed through the land, until the place of Shekem, until the oak of Moreh; and the Canaanite was then in the land. 7. And YHWH appeared to Avram, and he said, “To your seed I will give this land”; and he built there an altar to YHWH who had appeared to him. 8. And he traversed from there to the mountain-area, to the east of Bet-El, and he pitched his tent; Bet-El to the west and Ai to the east, and he built there an altar to YHWH, and he called the name of YHWH.
