A young African boy becomes a man the hard way in the rough streets of Johannesburg, South Africa. The Rough settings of Johannesburg show themselves to Rev. Stephen Kumalo as he ventures into the vast city in search of his sister, son and other loved ones. He even runs into his brother who he hasn’t seen or heard from in years. Stephen Kumalo finds his son Absolom in Johannesburg after a long and strenuous search. After many attempts and dead ends Absolom(Rev Kumalo’s only son who was sent to Johannesburg to track down the reverends sister) is finally found. It is as if Stephen Kumalo is too late. The once well-mannered responsible son has have seemed to have lost all his manners.
