Stravinsky
“Stravinsky”, commonly known as “Triple-Bill of Igor’s works” is an opera based on Igor Stravinsky’s three separate pieces of work: “Le Sacre du Printemps” (The Rite of Spring), “Le Rossignol” (The Nightingale), and Oedipus Rex. It was last performed by the Metropolitan Opera during the 1983 – 1984 season. ... These works were originally performed separately; piano version with four hands and ballet versions for Le Sacre du Printemps in 1913, a musical piece for violin and piano called “Chants du Rossignol et Marche” for Le Rossignol in 1914, and opera-oratorium for Oedipus Rex in 1927.
Stravinsky’s music had made a seismic impact to the universal music history. ... The key to listening to this section of the opera is that the music is melodically simply with irregular interval; it was written in such way so that the dancers could dance to the music. ... Stravinsky, during those six years, has changed his style from creating works based on romanticism to carefully created dissonance. ...
