Joe mamma Comp 2 2nd Essay Parents and children are universal. They usually have a true love hate relationship. Essentially, there are two big groups in which many of us fall into. Either you have a great loving bound with your parents or children or you seem to never get along and it’s horrible with them. In the parents and children journals, we were faced with both. My Papa’s Waltz, Little Things, and Daddy are three examples of bad relationships. The love hate theme is also strong in all of them. In, My Papa’s Waltz, by Theodore Roethke, a little boy was faced with his drunken father’s actions. Even though the father beats him, he still loves him and loves all his father’s attention. In this story, the theme of parents and children was on the negative end. The father was probably a constant drunk, having happy highs and terrible lows.
